What’s a Pediatric Dentist
Not all dentists are certified by American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). The ABPD certifies pediatric dentists based on standards of excellence that leads to the highest quality of oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care needs.
Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed an accredited multi-year residency in pediatrics and a voluntary 2-part examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care.
A pediatric dentist certified by ABPD is also known as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Tongue & Lip tieS
Tongue tie, Lip tie, and Buccal Ties: In order to effectively treat lip and tongue ties while preserving the breastfeeding dyad, a pediatric dentist often works with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. Our role in this process is to evaluate, diagnose and treat tethered oral tissues for both infants and children using a CO2 Laser (Frenectomy/Frenotomy).
Treating tongue and lip ties effectively with laser technology requires specialized knowledge and training. Parents can rest assured knowing that Dr. Carroll has significant training and experience performing these procedures.
Dr. Carroll is a proud member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), International Association for Tongue Tie Professionals, and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.
